About Me
Here I am in my 40s acting like a teenager over a band, how did this happen. It all started back early January of this year. I was hanging out at my best friend's house sort of watching videos with her oldest daughter on YouTube. Most of the time I usually don't pay much attention but she pulls the video for Blackout and I liked the song right away. Asked her what the name of the group was and if they were new. Turns out she'd known about them since last year and didn't introduce me to them because she didn't think I'd like that type of music. I went home later home and check out more of their videos and started to research to the band themselves. Spent the next few weeks looking up everything I could find from pictures, articles and videos. That's when I found out they'd been around for four years, got their start with a computer program and just now getting their music played on the national radio stations. Since that first introduction, I think I've read every article, seen every interview, watched every music and live video posted at least a few times. I have all but the first album, two shirts, button, bracelet and plan to get more.
On 4/25/12, I went to Lansing MI to see Breathe Carolina in concert. First we got lost, then we couldn't find the place, then I noticed the tour buses outside this one building which should have been a clue. We only had to stand in line for a like a half hour then the VIPers were called to the door. Once inside we were directed down the hallway. As soon as we turned the corner, there stood David and Kyle. I remember saying, omg I can't believe it's really them. I was surprise there weren't more people in line. A few minutes later it was my turn to meet with them. Kyle was the first to shake my hand, introduce himself and give me a hug. Then David said hi and shook my hand. Then I said here this is for you, handing a gift bag of things I'd made to Kyle. He asked if I wanted them to open it up and I said that's up to you. As they looked at what I made they couldn't believe I'd taken the time to do this. Since I knew that David's birthday was last month, a few those were specifically for him. Then it was picture time. I stood between the guys and the cameras flashed. At some point I told David he hadn't given me a hug so while he hugged me he told me thanks for coming to the show. They asked me which large poster I wanted them to sign and of course it's up on my wall. Then it was my niece and her best friend's turn. She had made them some friendship bracelets which they put on right away and later on when they performed we all noticed they still had them on. When we did the group photo, she somehow got her hair caught in Kyle's chain bracelet, that was funny. Around 7pm the It Boys came out and were great. Matt Toka, don't really care for his music. Ashland High with Trace Cyrus was cool. The Ready Set really got the crowd into a frenzy but when Breathe Carolina came on the crowd went so crazy. It was so awesome watching my favorite band perform just feet away from me. I learned what I moss pit was, don't get caught in that, you get squished really bad. I was originally sitting on one of the speakers and my legs got pinned against the stage. I had to literally pull them out between the stage, speaker and a girl just to free myself. I ended up watching the rest of the performances from the side of the stage. Sure it sucked a bit that I wasn't right in front but that pit was nasty. Over all I had a great time and plan to see my guys as soon as possible. Warped Tour is next hopefully. I'm sure there will be more to add, until then...peace out.
